Nigel Davis, also known as “Huggntreez”,
an artistic pseudonym and a Social Media handle.
“Nigel Davis, also known as Huggntreez, is a self-taught mixed-media artist from Atlanta, GA, specializing in abstract expressionism. His work explores themes of identity, self-empowerment, spirituality, social justice, and the beauty found within resilience. Davis began his practice using a palette knife to create bold, textured compositions on canvas and found materials, emphasizing depth and raw emotion. Recently, he has transitioned to oil pastel crayons, a medium that allows him to explore fluidity, texture, and freedom of expression while continuing to reflect on the same core ideas of beauty, strength, and personal liberation.”
What began as personal exploration soon evolved into a full-fledged artistic identity—Huggntreez. The moniker reflects his deep connection to nature, raw creativity, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity. Through perseverance, self-education, and countless hours of experimentation, Davis has developed a distinctive approach to mixed-media painting that bridges street culture, fine art, and spiritual reflection.
His artwork has been showcased across Atlanta in spaces such as Atlantucky Brewing, Bookstore Gallery, the Hidden Gallery at Peters St. Station, and the UUCA Pulgram Art Gallery. He has also been featured in WABE and Shoutout Atlanta for his contributions to the city’s contemporary art scene. In December 2025, Davis will showcase his latest body of work during Art Basel Miami with Spectrum Miami (December 3–7), marking a major milestone in his growing national presence.
With a presence that spans underground art collectives to more traditional gallery settings, Davis continues to push creative boundaries, using his art as both reflection and resistance—an ongoing dialogue about protest, healing, and the human experience. From an aspiring graffiti artist with a hunger for creative release to an established visual storyteller, Huggntreez stands as a testament to the power of raw evolution, self-discovery, and an unrelenting passion to create.
